Sachin Tendulkar’s last ODI match was against Pakistan, a league match, during the Asia Cup 2012. That particular league match was important for India to win to keep alive their chances to reach the final of the tournament. Earlier, India had lost a match against Bangladesh where Sachin Tendulkar registered his 100th international ton.

However, India went on to win the match against Pakistan by six wickets, but they could not qualify for the final of that tournament because of the head-to-head result. After that ODI, the master blaster had not played a 50-over format and announced his retirement from this format in December 2012.

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir had a decent Asia Cup 2012. He scored a century in the league stage match against Sri Lanka while in the matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan, he scored 11 and 0 runs respectively.

Gradually, his formed dipped in the shorter formats and was dropped in 2013. Further, he was selected as the backup opener but was not given a chance. In the longest format, he made a comeback and was in and out of the team. The right-hand batsman last featured in the Test side in 2016 when he played a handful knock after the frontline openers were all injured.

In 2018, he announced his retirement and joined politics. Currently, the player plays the expert analyst role for different TV shows and is a minister.
