6. MS Dhoni (C & WK)

India won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. He had given the trophy to the team after the 28-year-long wait. Everyone was hopeful that India would certainly win the Asia Cup 2012. However, things didn’t go on India’s favour.
Under his captaincy, India was the part of many semi-final or final of the mega-events. He led India to the semi-finals in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and ICC World T20 2016 as well. In January 2017, Dhoni gave up captaincy across limited-overs formats and played as a wicket-keeper batsman in white-ball cricket. Earlier, he retired from red-ball cricket in 2014.
Dhoni last played with the team in the disheartening semi-final against New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Since then, he is under sabbatical, and the speculation of retirement is always around.
