The opening batting combination of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar was one of its kind. The two were highly formidable names and played with utmost dominance. The right hand- the left-hand combination was a tough thing to deal for the bowlers.
A similar sort of bonding between the two has also been visible off the field as the two continue to remain thick friends. Tendulkar, therefore, obviously delighted to wish Dada on the occasion of his birthday.
He tweeted:
“#HappyBirthdayDada! It was always a pleasure to play with you, @SGanguly99! Have a good one!”

Sachin Tendulkar and Ganguly were also two parts of the famous Indian batting combination ‘Fab Four’ – along with Raul Dravid and VVS Laxman. These four men defined the Indian batting line up in the early 2000’s
After starting his career in 1996 against England at Lord’s, Ganguly went on to play 113 Test matches and 311 ODIs and amassed 7212 runs and 11363 runs respectively in both the formats.
His batting prowess was just one small reflection of him as a cricketer as the Ganguly created a major impact a skipper of Team India.
He took over the reign of captaincy from Tendulkar in 2000 after the match fixing saga and led the side to the finals of the Knockout tournament in 2000, jointly winning the 2002 Champions Trophy victory with Sr and finishing as the runners-up in the 2003 Cricket World Cup.
At the time of his retirement in 2007, he was unarguably the most successful skipper in the history of Indian Cricket. Post retirement, he stayed active as a cricketer playing in the Indian Premier League before transitioning to administration.
As of now, he is the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and is one of the busiest men running the game from behind the scenes through making active participation in various cricketing committees.
