The Masters Cricket League and the Legends T20 Cricket League are two events that are being planned to get ex-cricketers to play the T20 format of the game.

The Legends T20 league is the idea of the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne. They proposed earlier in the year to play the league in the US in the months of August and September. The MCL will be played in Dubai and Dean Jones the promoter of the MCL said that though both leagues sound similar, that they can co-exist.

Jones added that they have utmost respect to the Legends T20 league proposed and said that they have no intentions of competing with them on any level. He added that the MCL to be played in Dubai has its own time frame in February and that the Legends League may even join with them. He added that he wants his league to be the best in the world and that he is sure that the Legends T20 league will also be successful if the MCL is a success.

The MCL was recently launched in the UAE. Players like Wasim Akram, Adam Gilchrist and Brian Lara, Jacques Kallis, have been named as icon players. It was initiated by the Emirates Cricket Board and is organized by GM Sports. It has been approved for a period of 10 years.

It will be played as a 2 week tournament every year in February and will consist six teams full of players who are not participating in any form of cricket in any place in the world. He added that there are a lot of rules in the game to allow the veterans to take part and that the initial response was extraordinary.

Talking about maintaining the standards of the game and its dignity, Jones said that the league will follow strict policies in place by the ICC and that corruption will not be a part of this thoughtful venture. He said that he objective of the league was to see stars from the past play together again and that it had no financial motives individually.
