Sachin Tendulkar Thanks Chennai Crowd for their Support at Chepauk 1

Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has praised the people of Chennai for supporting him throughout his playing career. The 44-year-old is currently in the Southern city, as he is one of the owners of Pro Kabaddi team, Tamil Thalaivas.

The master has always been taken to heart by the people in Chennai, as he amassed incredible runs in Chepauk with five centuries and a staggering average of 88.18. The fifth edition of Pro Kabaddi League has moved to Chennai for the final round of round-robin league matches before the play-offs begin.

Kabaddi is the fastest growing sport in India, and the legendary cricketer is in the city to promote both Kabaddi and his newly found team Tamil Thalaivas, who are playing their first PKL season.

The league got extended to 12 teams, and the new format is making it more popular amongst the masses across the country. Tamil Thalaivas are set to play the 100th match of the season against Puneri Paltan, and Sachin is keen to get the complete backing of the home crowd to his team.

Sachin has been a very active investor across sports since his retirement from cricket back in 2013. He is also the co-owner of Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League, one of the most followed football teams in the country.

“I am really excited to be here to watch the first match of Tamil Thalaivas. Cricket whenever I came and played here, Chennai was always warm, full of love and full of support. All I can tell everyone is join us and let’s support Tamil Thalaivas and enjoy kabaddi,” he said.

Tamil Thalaivas need to better their results at their home to stand a chance to go through to the play-offs, as they are currently standing in the last place in Group B. However, they have played considerably lesser games than other teams which prove to be a positive for the team going forward.
