The Indian government has taken huge strides towards bringing back lost heritage of the nation by undertaking many trend-changing events such as Swach Bharat. The newest event announced by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is to plant saplings all around the country on the eve of World Environment Day.
Modi will start the drive by planting some saplings near his residence. The Environment ministry has invited the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli to participate in the event. They have also invited Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar to the event. They will participate in the event on the World Environment Day on the 5th of June. Kohli and Sushil will plant the saplings at the Ministry of environment.
A similar event is conducted in Mumbai and cricketers like Sachin, Rohit and Rahane were invited to the event. The Education minister Vinod Tahwade will also join them in the event. The Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar said that it was a great initiative and that more and more people should join the campaign b planting more and more trees in the country.
The event will also take place in Vadodra, where the Pathan brothers will participate on the day. At Indore, former Test player Narendra Hirwani, ex-BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale and state Environment Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, will be a part of the nationwide occasion.
Javedkar also added that they are not promoting a single species of plant and urged the participants to grow plants that are suitable in the respective climates and soil conditions.
The whole Indian team, which will depart to Bangladesh on the 7th, will take part in the occasion in Kolkata a day before they leave. Boxers Mary Kom and Sarita Devi, cue sport legend Geet Sethi and former India Hockey Captain Viren Rasquinha will all be a part of the event and will reach Kolkata on 5th from wherever they are.
These initiatives will surely make India prosper and will raise the standard of living.
