Bengal will miss out on the services of their international players Wriddhiman Saha and Mohammed Shami in the quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy 2017/18.

Both Saha and Shami are a part of Indian team for the Delhi Test, which is scheduled to end on December 6. They could have joined the side next day; the day on which game starts but it looks like BCCI hasn’t permitted these two to be part of Ranji Trophy.

Both Saha and Shami are not a part of the ODI series against Sri Lanka. BCCI had earlier denied the limited-overs specialist players to play Ranji Trophy, and now, Test specialists have also been restricted from taking part in the competition to be fit for the South Africa tour.

Bengal has named India U19 player Ishan Porel in the squad, who is currently playing U19 Challenger Trophy. However, his availability will only depend whether he would be allowed to miss the U19 camp or not.

As of now, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) selectors have named him, but the last decision lies in the hands of U19 team management. In case Porel is not allowed to play the game, then Sayan Ghosh will replace him, who has been kept on standby by the team management.
