Sakshi Malik’s coach Kuldeep Malik didn’t receive money from Haryana govt.
Olympic bronze medalist got accolades from all length and breadth of India for her success in Rio Olympic, but her coach Kuldeep Malik seems to be at the end of a raw deal.
The India women freestyle wrestling coach received with a photocopy of an RS 10 lakh cheque at a felicitation function in Bahadurgarh but more than a month later he is yet to get the real thing.
His attempts to get in touch with the Haryana government and the Railway Sports Promotion Board have gone in vain in the last one month.
A “promise of promotion” by the Railway minister Suresh Prabhu on the day Sakshi was presented with Khel Ratna on August 29 has also remained the only word of the month, Kuldeep a chief ticket inspector of Northern Railway revealed.
Under Kuldeep’s guidance, Sakshi went to win bronze at Rio. Back in 2014, she had also won the silver along with a bronze at the Asian Championship in 2015.
Sakshi was one of the three women who were ushered praised by Indian sports fans. The silver medallist PV Sindhu and gymnast Dipa Karmakarma, who was placed fourth in the table.
India have sent an 118 members contingent to Rio but only two members won medals for India. Several state governments ushered money on the medal winners.
But Kuldeep case is not the first in India, this kind of situation also happened to Saina Nehwal when she won the bronze, but she didn’t receive the money from state governments.
