Sam Billings Decides To Take Break From Franchise League, Withdraw His Name Ahead Of IPL 2020 Auction

England wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings announced his ouster from the IPL 2020 auction list. He has decided to take the break from franchise cricket and shift his focus to the county cricket. The 28-year-old is currently struggling to maintain his form.

Sam Billings has played Indian Premier League for Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings. He played 11 matches for Delhi Capitals for 2016 and 2017. Then he shifted his base to CSK in 2018, played 10 matches in that season. In the last edition, he got the chance in one match where he could not open his account. In total, he has played 22 IPL matches and scored 334 runs. CSK released the England player ahead of the upcoming IPL auction.

“On a personal level, I have chosen to pull out of any franchise cricket this winter as well to focus/freshen up for a big year with @KentCricket. Very fortunate to have played all over the last few years & a break from the game to refresh I feel is the best decision.”

After a long time, he earned up the place in England team against New Zealand in the T20I series but didn’t get much chance to prove himself. He has been dropped ahead of the South Africa series. England will tour South Africa to play four Test matches, three ODI and three T20I matches.

Sam Billings has planned to participate in his country’s domestic tournaments. He will head to play county cricket for his team Kent to earn up the call in the Test team. In 2015, he made the debut for his country. However, he hasn’t played a Test match yet. He has played 26 T20Is, and 15 ODIs.

Talking about IPL 2020 auction, as many as 971 players from all around the world drafted their names in which just 332 players have been shortlisted. On 19th December, the fate of many players will be decided in IPL.
