Sri Lankan top-order batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama who got a blow on his helmet while fielding at forward short-leg has been advised to take rest by the doctors on the first day of the third and final Test at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Samarawickrama got hit on the last ball of the 30th over after Murali Vijay smacked one off Dilruwan Perera on the leg side.

The on-field umpire Nigel Llong called on the Sri Lankan physio to check for the concussion as an immediate measure. He was then taken off the field and was cleared of danger after a CT scan. However, he didn’t take the field for the remainder of the day.

Notably, this is the second time in two matches that the 22-year-old Samarawickrama has come under the line of Vijay’s batting. In Nagpur, the Sri Lankan was struck by a full-blooded Vijay sweep off Rangana Herath that struck him in the chest. He went off the field and was cleared after x-rays showed no rib damage.

India posted 371 runs for the loss of four wickets as Lakshan Sandakan picked two quick wickets at the fag end of the day. Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli continued their good form and completed their hundreds as they smacked the Sri Lankan bowlers all round the park.
