Sanath Jayasuriya praises Indian test captain Virat Kohli

Former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya had heaps of praise for Indian test cricket team and captain Virat Kohli as the team are looking to be the side to beat in the coming months.

Indian team has managed to become the top ranking side in tests after their consistent performances in the longer format of the game over the past two years. Captain Virat Kohli was presented with ICC Test Mace as India is set to hold the top ranking for a considerable time in the current season.

“At the moment, the Indian Cricket Team is performing well in every department of the game – be it batting, bowling or fielding”, quoted Sanath Jayasuriya.

The 47-year old southpaw has also praised Virat Kohli as the latter is in spectacular form in the recent months and has been the most feared batsman in the limited overs formats. The 27-year old has also been in spectacular form as a captain as he has helped Royal Challengers Bangalore reach the finals in the Indian Premier League this summer. He has also replicated the same form as the leader for Team India in test cricket as the team is currently unbeaten over the last 12 matches and are looking extremely talented and dangerous for opponents.

“Virat Kohli is doing well as a captain and as a batsman. Overall as a player I think he is doing really well”, said the Sri Lankan chief selector.

The devastating opener of Sri Lanka has also opined that the cricket should keep on going between India and Pakistan as he feels Cricket should not be part of politics in an event that he attended at New Delhi.

“As a cricketer, I feel that the cricket must go on. I can’t comment on the issues between the two countries. Cricket is different and politics is different,” said Sanath Jayasuriya.
