The Indian Premier League has always been a hub to provide an opportunity to the players from different countries and players of different age groups. From Pravin Tambe who made his IPL debut at the age of 41 to Rashid Khan, the first Afghan player to play in the league, the IPL has given it all over the years.

This time it’s about the first player from India’s neighbouring country Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane. The Delhi Daredevils bought Sandeep on his base price of 20 lakhs. Aged just 17, Sandeep has been able to attract a lot of attention.

He has even received high praises from Former Australian world cup winning captain Michael Clarke. Clarke even went on to say that he will make it big at the senior level.

Just recently, the leg-spinner from Nepal was handed the Delhi Daredevils jersey. Nepal Sports Council Member Secretary Keshav Bista awarded the shirt with jersey number ’1′ to Lamichhane.

Talking about the secret behind his jersey number, Sandeep revealed:
“I cannot take the number 25 from my seniors, as the birth date of my deceased Nephew falls on January, i.e. 1, so I took the number for the jersey, and we always want to be number one for which I took the number.”
Sandeep also featured in the Nepal squad which played in the World Cup qualifiers. The team did manage to get ODI status despite failing to qualify for the tournament.
