Kerala wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, who found himself in controversy after his unprofessional behaviour in the Ranji Trophy 2016/17, has now apologised for his mistake as the former skipper of the state has sent an e-mail to the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), accepting all charges made against him and has also requested the state association to let him off with a warning, without taking any further action against him.
The KCA President TC Mathew confirmed to TOI they’ve received a mail from Samson regarding the same. The state association had already formed a four-member committee to probe the matter but now it looks like the association will let him off for his first mistake.
On December 1, it was reported Sanju Samson, after being dropped for the Ranji Trophy game against Goa, left the dressing room uninformed and returned to the team hotel at night only. He also allegedly broke the dressing room’s furniture in order to show his frustration. Later, he wanted to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) but the team management denied his proposal which led to sour relation between Sanju’s father and the KCA President TC Mathew.
But now with Samson apologising for his mistake, the association might not take the matter further. Sanju Samson might have struggled in the ongoing season of Ranji Trophy but he remains a crucial part of the Kerala team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy to be played in the month of February and March.
