Sarandeep Singh Keen to Become Delhi's Selector free of Cost 1

The National selector Sarandeep Singh is keen to work as the selector of Delhi Ranji team, on an honorary basis. He is the only selector in the national selection panel who is not a part of his state selection committee, and this time, he is keen to get the job,

“Yes, I have written to the DDCA because both my colleagues in national selection committee — MSK Prasad (Andhra) and Devang Gandhi (Bengal) — are chairman of their respective state selection committees. I have also written that I have applied for the chairman of selectors’ post for DDCA and I don’t want any salary,” Sarandeep told PTI.

It is to be noted that the former India spinner was one of the candidates who applied for the same role last year but wasn’t selected by the interview panel. Ironically, a few days after, he was included in the national selection panel of five members headed by MSK Prasad. It resulted in the then BCCI Vice-President CK Khanna writing to Justice Mudgal to include him on the selection panel of DDCA, a request which got declined. It, of course, invited criticism to the state board as well.

Sarandeep has again applied for the job and is seen as an automatic selection and also might be given the Chair of Head of the selection panel.

At present, MSK Prasad and Devang Gandhi, the other two members of trimmed national selection committee are Chairman of their state selection Panel. While Prasad holds the chair in Andhra state, Devang is the chairman of Bengal team.
