Sarandeep Singh: Virat Kohli Is A Good Listener And Is As Down To Earth As He Seems Aggressive On The Field
However, for many, Virat Kohli’s attitude remains a question. Recently, former selector Sarandeep Singh revealed much regarding his attitude during selection meetings and how he is a good listener before making a call.
Sarandeep Singh told on Sportskeeda’s Cricket Page, “Whenever Virat comes, team meetings used to go on for 1, 1.5 hours. Virat is a good listener. I don’t know what people think about him.If you see him in the matches, he’s always charged up while batting and fielding. So it seems like he’s always hot and arrogant, and doesn’t listen to anyone.
“But no, he’s as down-to-earth as he seems aggressive on the field. In selection meetings, he was so polite. He always used to listen to everyone and then finally come to a decision.”

Virat Kohli is one of the fittest cricketers on the international sporting circuit having represented India in 87 Tests, 251 ODIs, and 85 T20Is. He has over 20,000 international runs and is next to the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting for having 70 international centuries.

Sarandeep Singh even went a step ahead and opened up on how Virat and his wife Anushka Sharma manage their house, without any servants. “At his home, there are no servants. He and his wife will serve food to everyone.
“What else do you want? Virat always sits with you, chats with you, and goes out for dinner with you. All the other players have so much respect for him. He’s very down-to-earth and strong-willed.”

He further defended his style of expressive captaincy and said, “On the field, he needs to be that way because he’s the captain. He’s the one who’ll handle the pressure on the ground and make decisions in the heat of the moment.”
Virat Kohli became the Test captain in late 2014 and has done exceedingly well to take India to the top spot in the ICC Test rankings in mid-2016. On the other hand, he became the captain across formats in early 2017 and led India to the semi-finals of the 2019 ODI World Cup. He is India’s most successful Test skipper with 34 wins.
Currently, the Virat Kohli-led Indian team is busy preparing for the third and penultimate Test against England in Ahmedabad. A series win, by 2-1 or 3-1, will take India to the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship and will play against New Zealand who has already qualified after Australia’s tour of South Africa was called off.
Virat Kohli, who is yet to score a century in any format in more than a year now, has played some crucial innings in his last three Tests. The Indian captain scored a 74 in the day-night Test in Adelaide against Australia, a solid 73 in the second innings in the first Test in Chennai but his 62-run innings in the second innings of the second Test against England was perhaps the best.
