Sarfaraz Ahmed took potshots at former captain Salman Butt in a cryptic tweet on Wednesday, February 2. Sarfaraz Ahmed is currently leading Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League. He took to Twitter on Wednesday, where he wielded a sharp dig at Salman Butt.

Through this tweet, Sarfaraz Ahmed made sure he informed the cricket fraternity that he had in fact heard what Salman Butt had to say about him and reminded the former opener of his past, mentioning Salman Butt’s involvement in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal.

Salman Butt was the captain of the Pakistan team when the scandal broke out in England with Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif being at the centre of it. On 31 August 2010, Salman Butt was stripped of the Pakistan captaincy, and removed from the ODI squad pending criminal proceedings.

Sarfaraz Ahmed Lashes Out At Salman Butt For Selling Pakistan On Duty After The Tainted Skipper Blamed The Former For Urging Him To Focus

Sarfaraz Ahmed said that a player who sold his country while ‘on duty’ should be the last one to question the intention and morality of others.

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has posted a tweet that by all means is directed at tainted Pakistan ex-skipper Salman Butt, after the ex-left-handed batter pointed fingers at the Quetta Gladiators captain and his performance in the PSL 2022. Sarfaraz Ahmed, who is leading a PSL franchise, responded after Salman Butt questioned the 34-year-old and his recent string of performances and his captaincy.

Sarfaraz Ahmed wrote: ‘’Pakistan ko on duty beachne wala fixer jub niyat pe bhashan dega phir to Allah he Hafiz hai .#justsying’’ (Those who sold Pakistan while ‘on duty’ should be the last person to judge the intention of others).

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s tweet comes after Salman Butt recently urged the wicketkeeper-batter to focus on his own performance and not bother about others in the team.

Salman Butt: Sarfaraz Ahmed Isn’t Ding Any Favour For Himself

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Salman Butt said that Sarfaraz Ahmed was only creating difficulties for himself. He also said that Sarfaraz Ahmed should focus on regaining his place back in the national team.  Tainted ex-skipper Salman Butt pointed out that the former captain has been travelling with the team as a second-choice stumper for the last 18 months.

“He (Sarfaraz) is not doing any favour for himself. He is only creating difficulties for himself, and I’m sure he won’t have any answer for that today.”

“He needs to concentrate on himself; he needs to look after his own performance, as he has been travelling with the Pakistan team as a second-choice wicketkeeper in the past 1.5 years. He needs to look after his own performance and not interfere with others’.’

Sarfaraz Ahmed has endured a poor time with the bat in the ongoing Pakistan Super League season. In 3 games, he has managed only 37 runs at an underwhelming strike rate of 115.62. His team has lost two of their first three games, with their latest defeat coming against Multan Sultans. That game marked the first instance of a PSL team losing a game while chasing.

In the ongoing PSL 2022, the keeper has batted twice, scoring 16 not out against Peshawar Zalmi and 21 against Multan Sultans. The Quetta Gladiators lost both those matches and won against Karachi Kings to be currently placed third on the points table.

Salman Butt played 33 Tests, 78 ODI, and 24 T20Is for Pakistan and is believed to have sharp analytical skills. He played for Pakistan national cricket team between 2003 and 2010, before getting banned for five years for his involvement in the infamous 2010 spot-fixing scandal.
