Pakistan skipper across all formats Sarfraz Ahmed is all set to play for Yorkshire Club as their overseas playing for the Natwest T20 Blast. He was signed by the prestigious club on Saturday and it will be a great opportunity for the experienced wicket-keeper batsman to get himself tested in those conditions.

Sarfaraz who was the captain of the Pakistan side which recently lifted the Champions Trophy by beating their arch-rivals India in the final has been brought in as the replacement of Aussie middle-order batsman Peter Handscomb, who is scheduled to join a training camp for the upcoming Test series in Bangladesh. The series could yet get caught up in the ongoing pay dispute which resulted in the cancellation of Australia’s A tour to South Africa.

The wicket-keeper who has been recently appointed as the Test captain following the retirement of Misbah-ul-Haq is expected to be available for five matches and has confirmed that he is ready to keep wickets if asked. Despite all these, his signing is only subject to him gaining a work permit. Sarfraz has been a solid batsman for Pakistan over the years and has lent the stability in the batting order in times of need.

His appointment as a Test skipper was only a matter of time, as he had shown enough maturity as a limited overs skipper that he was directly given the captaincy once Misbah retired. The Champions Trophy triumph very recently especially beating arch-rivals India in the final will definitely rank as his best achievement in his captaincy career so far.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire is currently sitting in the 2nd position with one win, one loss, one tie and one no result. Apart from Sarfraz another Pakistani cricketer, Imad Wasim is on the verge of signing for Durham and the all-rounder will also be available for five matches before leaving for the Caribbean Premier League.

The No.1 bowler in the shortest format will definitely add value to the Durham squad. The left-arm spinner has already made a name for himself by bowling in the powerplays and providing some crucial breakthroughs early on. He is also a reliable middle order batsman and has the ability to strike the long ball to good effect.
