After former Pakistan cricketer, Sarfraz Nawaz served a legal notice to Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chairman Shaharyar Khan, the cricket board retorted by saying the fast bowler has committed a clear violation by continuing his vitriolic campaign against Executive Committee chief Najam Sethi and PCB in itself which further included the concerned officials of the board.

“PCB wishes to point out that Sarfraz has repeatedly failed to produce evidence of his allegations in court and his credibility has been questioned time and again,” PCB rejoinder stated while referring to the former Test cricketer’s legal notice he served to Shaharyar on March 14 (Tuesday).

The 68-year-old Sarfraz, who is one of the pioneer’s of the reverse swing, had played 55 Tests for Pakistan stated in his recent legal notice that he did not try to malign the name of PCB before stating he worked for the development and better structure of Pakistan cricket.

“PCB has no intention of withdrawing the press release dated February 19, 2017, and reaffirms its determination not to bow down to nefarious and blackmailing elements who continue to damage the game of cricket through their vitriolic campaign.” PCB rejoinder added.

In 95 Test innings, Sarfraz bagged 177 wickets at an average of 32.75 was criticized by PCB for the contempt of court while stating he continued to speak again the national board through the medium of print and electronic media.

“His utterance on various TV shows and print interviews are clear cases of contempt of court. We want to add that Sarfraz’s accusations are actually due to PCB’s refusal to yield to his reprehensible and unmerited demands for jobs/assignments and grants for his cricket academy,” the statement added.

Earlier, in his legal notice to PCB supremo, Sarfraz further stated the board has tried to ban his voice when there was no aim to level the false agenda against anyone. However, in the recent development, PCB stated Sarfraz has failed to stand on his own words while following the court proceedings.

In February this year, PCB in its statement has also cautioned the local media by saying Sarfraz should not be given a space to speak.

“Even after the Injunctive Order dated 19-06-2015, whereby he was restrained from doing so in electronic and print media, Sarfraz has failed to abide by the judicial order,” the PCB release concluded.

The right-arm fast bowler had also played 45 One-day Internationals and 299 first-class games for Pakistan.
