The scheduled for the much-awaited tour of India to Australia later this year is expected to be announced in next 24 hours. Cricket Australia (CA) chief Earl Eddings confirmed this on Thursday (October 15) according to reports in The Australian newspaper.

Eddings assured the newspaper that India would 100 per cent tour Australia. He added that he is in continuous touch with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly to discuss the developments of the forthcoming tour.

“I’m 100 percent confident they are coming. Sourav Ganguly and I talk about it most days and we are already planning when we can catch up once he and the team get over here,” the paper quoted Eddings as saying.

Further according to reports in The Australian, the tour will begin with the white-ball series followed by the four-match Test series. Four venues have also been selected for the Test series that are Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

“The tour will commence with a white-ball component before the four-Test series, at this stage, begins in Adelaide on December 17-21. Other venues include Melbourne (December 26-30), Sydney (January 7-11) and Brisbane (January 15-19),” the paper revealed.

Melbourne, earlier, was not confirmed for the hosting the Test match because of the increasing rise in COVID-19 cases. However, it has been selected as the venue and as per tradition, the Boxing Day Test will be played there.

Meanwhile, the Indian team will land in Brisbane, instead of Perth or Adelaide, because of the quarantine rules. Virat Kohli & Co are unlikely to face too many restrictions despite the severe restrictions in Queensland.

Currently, the Indian cricketers are playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the UAE. Soon after the completion of the league on November 10, they will leave for Australia to play the bilateral series.
