The schedule for a Twenty 20 series between India and Sri Lanka has been announced. The opening match of the three-match series will be played in Pune on February 9, Sri Lanka Cricket announced on Wednesday.
The two teams will meet in Delhi for the second T20 on February 12 while the last T20 will be played in Visakhapatnam on February 14.
The short series is part of the build-up to the World T20, of which Sri Lanka are the defending champions in India in March-April.
India and Sri Lanka will meet again in the Asia Cup T20 in Bangladesh before the World T20 in India. It will be the 13th edition of the Asia Cup and first in T20 format.
Sri Lanka’s last tour to India was in 2014, where they filled in for five matches One Day internationals series after West Indies pulled out of their tour midway. Sri Lanka ended the series losing all five matches.
In that series, Rohit Sharma scored historic 264 at Eden Gardens.
Currently, India is touring Australia. The five-match ODI series is going on while the three-match T20 series will start on January 26. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka have lost all matches in New Zealand.
