In the finals of Mumbai’s famous inter-school competition Harris Shield Plate Division boys U-16 inter-school at the Shivaji Park, Andheri’s Rajhans Vidyalaya had a huge batting collapse and got bundled out for a “four runs” in the second innings against Goregaon’s Yashodham High School yesterday.

Yashodham’s Gaurang Sachar was the chief architect of Rajhans’ misery after claiming six wickets for zero runs in his four overs. He also starred with the bat, scoring 85 runs, to help his team clinch their maiden Plate Division title by an innings and 187 runs.

While Gaurang took the wickets of Vedant Sarkhot, Chinmay Parab, Panav Teckchandan, Omkar Machindar, Devang Jadhav and Kaustubh Funde, left-arm-spinner Ryan Thomas took the remaining four wickets, giving away just two runs.

While Rajhans’ Sanmeet Anand scored two runs, the other two came through extras. Earlier in the first innings, Yashodham had bundled out Rajhans for 56 runs. Resuming on an overnight score of 160-7, the Goregaon school was dismissed for 247 in 51 overs.

Yashodham coach Jayesh Kansara said, “We couldn’t have asked for a better win. Today the team played as one unit. Gaurang and Ryan stood out.”
