Scotland defeated UAE by 9 wickets in the opening match of ICC World T-20 qualifiers played at Edinburgh just few minutes ago. It was an emphatic performance by Scotland who outplayed the UAE team.
Chasing a meagre target of 110 runs, Scotland openers began steadily scoring 10 runs off the first 2 overs. Kyle Cotzer and Munsey attacked the UAE bowlers and just smashed the bowlers all over the ground. At the end of six overs Scotland were 76 for 0. Munsey completed his half century and Cotzer also attacked the UAE bowlers. Cotezer was dismissed by Naveed for 34 off 15 balls. Scotland won the match by 9 wickets with 10 overs to spare.
Earlier in the day, Scotland had won the toss and elected to field. UAE openers got off to a flying start with Faizan Asif and Amjad Ali scoring 22 off the first 2.2 overs. They lost the wicket of Asif for 16. Shezad came and hit some good strokes but got out for 14. The next three batsmen including Shiman Anwar, Ajmad Ali and Shakoor got out to rash strokes and were struggling at 66 for 5 in 10.2 overs. UAE lost another wicket of Patil to leave UAE in deep trouble at 66 for 6. UAE have lost wickets at regular intervals and were struggling at 80 for 8 after 12.2 overs. UAE were bowled out for 109 in the 19th over. The top wicket takers for Scotland were Leask and Watt picking 3 wickets each. The top scorer for UAE was Naveed with 19 not out.
