Sourav Ganguly, one of the members of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) that selected the Head Coach of Indian cricket team, had said that Virender Sehwag spoke about the matter foolishly when he stated that he could not become the Head Coach of the team because he did not have any setting in BCCI,
“I’ve got nothing to say. Sehwag spoke foolishly (bokar moton boleche),” Ganguly told PTI.

Sehwag, in an interview with India TV, also revealed that he was asked by few of the BCCI officials to apply for the post of Head Coach. He also had a talk with Indian skipper Virat Kohli regarding the same, but in the end, it was Shastri who won the race.

At that time, it was said that Sehwag was the favorite candidate of Ganguly and the former Indian skipper wanted Sehwag to take over the job. The decision to announce the Head Coach was also delayed, and in the end, there were no surprises as Shastri was given the role.

Shastri brought back in his core team, and Bharat Arun also made his comeback as the bowling coach of Indian cricket team. Sanjay Bangar was elevated to the post of the Assistant coach, and the rest of the members were retained. BCCI announced the contract for two years, lasting till 2019 World Cup.
Ganguly is the first member who has commented on the issue whereas VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar are yet to comment on that. Sehwag will share the commentary box along with Laxman during the Australia series, and then, we might see Laxman coming up with a reply.
