George Bailey is the captain of the Twenty20 format of Australia. He has the doctrine that the Delhi guy would surely imprint upon the team on their championship campaign.
In an interview to The Hindu, Bailey stated that he is quite confident that Sehwag would add a significant contribution to the squad. “Undoubtedly, he [Sehwag] will have a big effect on the squad. Having him around the team is such a great thing. He is experienced and accomplished. Just having someone who has been such a great cricketer crosswise all formats, I think we can soak up a lot of things from him. It is going to be superb for him to go on strike and play with freedom.” He added.
The last time the Delhi batsman has appeared in an international match for India was in March 2013, afterwards he got ruled out because of his bad form.
Nevertheless, he has got back his form, his old run-making period, in the recent past, by scrolling a ton for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against Durham in a Champion County Test match. He also showed a handsome performance for Delhi in the recently concluded Syed Musthaq Ali tournament.
Bailey signed off by saying, “We have got good equity, some experienced cricketer and quality youngsters. Every team is good on paper and every side will be cutthroat.”
