Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian captain and one of the members of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), has commented on Virender Sehwag’s comment of lack of setting in BCCI as Ganguly has said that Viru’s comment came out in disappointment,

“His (Sehwag’s) situation of the board approaching him or Virat approaching him, we were not aware of this until a certain point of time and only later we were told that he was approached for the job. But then the situation changed with Ravi coming in. Obviously, he is a bit disappointed with the way everything has happened,” Ganguly told India Today.

It was Sehwag who again raised the issue when he, in a talk with India TV, had said that he couldn’t get the Head Coach job due to lack of setting in BCCI. Ganguly though cleared the matter when he revealed that he would have a talk with Sehwag on the matter.

Though, Ganguly accepted that Virat was backing Shastri for the job and eventually, the CAC decided to give captain the man of his choice in the Indian dressing room,

“Virat obviously was backing Ravi and the management also felt that the captain wanted it and we supported the captain. Yes it was pretty unfortunate for Sehwag but that is the way it is but I will speak to Sehwag personally when I can because he is very dear to me and I don’t want to react more on his comment”, Ganguly added.

Sehwag's Comment Came Out Of Disappointment: Sourav Ganguly 1

The coach, appointment selection process, sparked a big controversy as, before the start of the Champions Trophy, BCCI decided to advertise for the post. The very next day, news came out that Anil Kumble and Kohli were not in good terms and after the conclusion of the tournament, the Head Coach stepped down from the post due to the untenable relation with the skipper.

Shastri, who earlier did not only for the job, applied for it when BCCI again invented the application and he emerged out as the ultimate winner in the end. There were few allegations of favoritism in this case, but all was set to rest after then. With Sehwag again raising up the issue, we might see more of it coming out of the matter.
