Callum Ferguson has been scoring runs and feels his good form can earn him a place in the Australian team. The Aussie cricketer has taken English County Cricket by storm. He scored 377 runs at an average of 94.25 across five one-day games.
He also scored his maiden T20 ton in English conditions. Ferguson was going well for his national side back in 2009. He scored five fifties in his first 25 ODIs before getting sidelined due to a knee injury.
The right-hander sustained the injury while fielding in the Champions Trophy finals. However, his final ODI game came in 2011.
Ferguson is good form
“You hope that runs, wherever you get them, are going to count for something,” Ferguson said on Friday. “I’ll be hoping to do a little bit more of that here at the Redbacks, and certainly if I can keep putting runs on the board, it’s got to give me a chance.”

He also spoke about the healthy competition back in the Australian domestic circuit.
“I’d like to think the door is still open (to national selection). The selectors told me, a little while ago now, that the door was not shut on an international career for me. At the Redbacks, everyone in the squad is striving to be playing in green and gold or the Baggy Green.”

Ferguson on the banned trio and opportunity
Ferguson played in whites back in 2016 in the Hobart Test match against South Africa. Since then, he has been slogging in the division circuit.
With Steven Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft cooling their heels off national duty, Ferguson understands there is a seat up for grabs.
“There’s a lot of excitement around the Australian team, in the playing ranks anyway, because there are opportunities out there,” Ferguson said. “The door is open for guys to come in and make a mark. The (banned) guys will come back in at some point, but there’s an opportunity there to grab hold of a spot,” he added.
