After Senior Panel, Indian Junior Selection Panel Also Trimmed To Three 1

Following in footsteps of the senior selection committee, the junior selection panel of BCCI has also been trimmed to three, in accordance with the recommendations of Lodha Panel.

Ashish Kapoor and Amit Sharma are the two selectors to lose their job after the implementation of the reforms. As per the Lodha recommendations, a player should have an experience of 50-first class matches or should have played an ODI or a Test match to be a member of the junior selection panel.

Both Amit Sharma and Ashish Kapoor fulfils the criteria to retain the job but the board was forced to remove them, which was not the case in the senior selection panel as two of the selectors namely Gagan Khoda and Jatin Paranjpe did not fulfil the criteria of being a national selector, and hence both were axed.

Ashish Kapoor played a total of 128 first-class matches. Along with it, he also played 4 Tests and 17 ODIs for India whereas Amit Sharma, the former Himachal Pradesh and Punjab played participated in 53 first-class matches. He also played 40 List A matches.

Venkatesh Prasad, who was one of the aspirants for the post of Head coach of the Indian team and then the chairman of the national selection committee, has retained his job as the chairman of junior selection panel with Gyanendra Pandey and Rakesh Parikh being the other two members of the trimmed team.
