With them almost all the players of India’s golden generation in cricket have bid adieu to cricket. The veteran off-spinner had played an important role for the Indian team across all the formats in the last decade. However, after the arrival of Ravichandran Ashwin his role in the team has become very limited. In fact, he is only considered for the T20Is. He was recalled in the team during the T20 series in Australia and maintained his place during the Asia Cup and World T20 but played only one- a clear indication that the team does not require his services anymore and so speculations are rife that he may quit the game anytime now.
