Sourav Ganguly’s axing from his home town IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is still a debatable subject. Even though he was one of the highest scorers for the franchise, the Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise didn’t retain him after IPL 2010. It was a big question and several experts had given their own logic for dropping former Indian captain from KKR.
The renowned singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who has lent his voice to Shah Rukh Khan in several Bollywood superhit songs, has said that the removal of Sourav Ganguly from captaincy then followed by his ouster from the squad was wrong and demoralized the Kolkata-born star.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Abhijeet even said that the entire saga of first dropping Ganguly from India’s captain post to axing him from KKR was disrespectful towards the left-handed batsman
“Shahrukh Khan created KKR and then removed Sourav Ganguly. It seemed like he came only to do that. Sourav Ganguly showed us what is the role of a captain in cricket, but then the likes of Greg Chappell and Kiran More demoralized him. Next, Shahrukh Khan said that remove him and elect another guy. So, to demoralise him so much was wrong,” he said.
Sourav Ganguly shared this incident in his autobiography:

Sourav Ganguly, in his autobiography “ A Century is not enough ”, has talked about this episode. He had given a theory that his chest-thumping in a particular match at Eden Gardens had angered the KKR Management which had likely led the decision of his ouster.
The current BCCI president played the rest of his IPL for Pune Warriors and then retired from the T20 league.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2020 is slated to begin from 19 September with the match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, the two finalists of the last edition. The grand finale of the tournament will be played on 10th November.
