Shaharyar Khan Hails Misbah-Ul-Haq As A Skipper, Calls Him ‘Better’ Than Imran Khan 1

In awe of Pakistan Test captain Misbah-Ul-Haq, who is retiring from international cricket after the conclusion of ongoing three-match Test series against the West Indies, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan on Thursday has lauded experienced campaigner as a better skipper than veteran Imran Khan.

“Misbah is a much better captain than Imran Khan, although Imran is a much bigger political personality. I respect Misbah as a person and am really impressed by what he has achieved as a captain, and his statistics and wins are testament to that,” Shaharyar Khan was quoted by Geo.tv.

The octogenarian chief Shaharyar has revealed this during a statement in Inter-Provincial Coordination programme for Standing Committee in National Assembly before adding his compliment came on the basis of cricketing platform other than politics.

“I said this on the basis of cricket. I have no political affiliation. I respect him as a player. I am not in politics. This is on the basis of statistics,” Shaharyar added.

The 42-year-old Misbah-Ul-Haq, who has been the linchpin for Pakistan particularly in the longer version of the game, has led the side since 2010. Given to his cool and calm nature, the right-handed batsman has captained his side in 55 Tests in which he registered 55 wins and 18 losses while drawing another 11 so far.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan, who has been regarded as one of the best Pakistan cricketers and significant all-rounder, led the country in 48 Tests in which he claimed 14 wins as he drew 26 and lost eight in his tenure since 1982.

While speaking about talismanic cricketer Sir Vivian Richards, who has been the mentor for Pakistan Super League franchise Quetta Gladiators, Shaharyar stated he isn’t a good mentor before adding he was one fine player.

Shaharyar has also termed Javed Miandad as a great player, who not only led Pakistan but played a significant role in shaping up cricket in the country.

Informing the committee on the status of cricket between India and Pakistan, Shahryar Khan said a notice amounting to $60.4 million had been sent to the BCCI.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both the boards in 2014 for the cycle of 2015-2023.

The reports suggested during the Standing Committee’s meeting, Shaharyar has revealed that notice of USD 60.4 million was sent to the BCCI while adding they are claiming the compensation following the bilateral ties were not fulfilled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
