Shahid Afridi Confident Of Peshawar Zalmi Winning PSL 2017 Despite His Absence
Shahid Afridi said he will be missing the action against Quetta Gladiators in the finale of PSL 2017.

Injured all-rounder Shahid Afridi feels his side Peshawar Zalmi will walk out as the champions of PSL 2017, despite his absence from the squad. Afridi, former Pakistan captain, injured his finger in the 3rd qualifying match against Karachi Kings and later required 12 stitches.

Knowingly, he didn’t seem happy to have to sit out. Afridi further added he is disappointed and also the injury came at a very wrong time.

“I am sad that I will not be part of the Peshawar Zalmi team in the ultimate showdown against Quetta Gladiators as the final was a challenge for me.”

“Injuries happen in the game but I suffered this one at a time when I was all set to play the final and to exhibit my due role to lift the level of my team by putting up a memorable knock with my all round performance.”

The swashbuckling batsman has entertained crowd for years now and believes the finale in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore would have been a special event for him and he would miss being there. Talking further, Afridi claimed the ongoing season of PSL is way better than many leagues he’s ever participated in.

Observing that the PCB has done everything possible to get international cricket back in Pakistan, Afridi said the efforts have been made and it’ll continue until the mission is accomplished.

“With the successful holding of the final PCB can continue its effort for bringing back international cricket to Pakistan. PCB authorities have put in lot of efforts to see that PSL final returns to Pakistan and it is very important moment in Pakistan cricket”

Backing the fact that PSL finale would be hosted in a smooth and peaceful manner, Afridi claimed it should be taken as an example for revival of the game.

“I think the smooth and peaceful conduct of the PSL final will re-establish Pakistan’s reputation as a safe country for elite cricket events and then gradually a stage will come when foreign teams will start visiting Pakistan.”

Quetta Gladiators will face Peshawar Zalmi in the final of PSL on Sunday, March 5.
