Pakistan's Shahid Afridi said PCB should take strict action against spot or match-fixers to make sure game's integrity is intact.

All-rounder Shahid Afridi is saddened to learn that two of the Pakistani players are allegedly involved in match-fixing in PSL.

The reports emerged last week about Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif spoiling the integrity of the game and were thus suspended from participating in the T20 league. Both batsmen are now suspected to be handed a life ban for their deeds and Afridi feels such uninvited activities will keep on happening until the PCB steps up and sets an example for such players.

Speaking to the Geo Super Channel from Dubai, Afridi said:

“What can I say, I have been saying in the past also that until the PCB sets or makes an example of such players it will be difficult to stop this menace. To me it is the same situation because you are allowing tainted players back into cricket.

By making such a comment, the former skipper took a dig at an unnamed Pakistani player, who served his ban after being held in spot-fixing scandal. He said:

“What is the use if after five years the same players are coming back. I don’t think this can be stopped until the right example is set.”

The board is expected to take a call on two of allegedly tainted batsmen after the investigation ends.
