Former Pakistan all-rounder, Shahid Afridi is well known for his antics on the field. His swashbuckling hundreds against India are still quite popular among cricket lovers. Now, the explosive batter is hopeful that both the teams would resume the on-field cricketing ties.

During a recent interaction with fans on a micro-blogging site, Shahid Afridi hinted his willingness on witnessing a contest between the arch-rivals.

He was asked,

“Lala do you believe Imran Khan’s presence as Prime minister will give possibility to conduct India Pakistan series again?”.

He replied, “#Hopenotout”.

India and Pakistan haven’t played any bilateral series since 2012/13 when Pakistan last visited India for a short limited-overs series. Ehsan Mani, the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said Imran Khan is very keen on reviving the rivalry.

The Indian government has denied permission for a bilateral series until their arch-rivals stops cross-border terror.

“It’s still early days. My intention is to make Asian cricket stronger again, as it used to be. I don’t want to go into any detail at this stage but obviously, cricket between Pakistan and India is important to world cricket. So, that is one thing we will have to sit down, consider and address. Fortunately, we have a Prime Minister who is very, very keen on that,” Mani told The Indian Express on Monday.

However, both India and Pakistan tussle it out only in the ICC events or Asia Cups. Pakistan last came to India in 2016 to play the World T20 youngest player in cricket

The teams will now meet during the Asia Cup 2018. Virat Kohli’s men will face the green brigade on September 19. The Pakistani side will have an edge over men in blue, as they floored India during the Champions Trophy finals last year. Though, the Indian team still have the odds in their favour, as they have been the better side among the two teams in the last decade.
