Shahid Afridi

Flamboyant Pakistani all rounder Shahid Afridi might have been axed from Pakistan’s setup for the tour of England, but that hasn’t deterred the controversial star one bit. Boom Boom Afridi, as people call him with affection, has set his ambitions in order to make yet another comeback into the national side. Afridi currently is in England, participating in the Natwest T20 Blast, where he represents Hampshire along with West Indies T20I skipper Darren Sammy.

In order to boost his skills, Afridi is likely to sign up a contract with one of the Big Bash League teams for the upcoming season in 2016/17. Afridi, who continues to remain an attraction for clubs across the globe, has given his nod to the tournament and could well be seen plying his trade in the next edition of BBL.

“I was offered to play Big Bash League in Australia almost every season in the last two or three years but I wasn’t able to take the offer due to my international commitments,” Afridi said.  “But if I am offered it this year I’ll surely give it a go.”

The all rounder stated that he would always be available to represent his national side. “I’ll be available for the national team whenever it needs me,” Afridi said. “In fact before coming to this interview I spoke with the chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and told him that it is good to have youngsters in the team but in case he needs me I will be available. “I am very focused on cricket and want to continue it. I am looking after myself very well and working hard on my fitness. “I still feel that I can play for the next couple of years whether it is for Pakistan or PSL Pakistan Super League, Big Bash or England domestic T20s.”
