Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has supported Shoaib Akhtar’s idea of organising a cricket series between India and Pakistan amid coronavirus to raise funds. While he also took dig at India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spreading negativity between the two nations.
Akhtar’s statement had become a debatable subject in media. Not only many former Pakistan cricketer but also Kapil Dev went strictly against the speedsters. The former Indian captain said that they would not put all player’s life in danger. He even said India has enough money and doesn’t need the match to raise funds.
Shahid Afridi blames Indian Government:

Well, the former Pakistan captain has come in full support for Akhtar. He said that Pakistan is always ready to play the series, but because of the present Indian government, strong ties could not be set up.
“We want to play against India, but it’s difficult in this situation because of the Modi Government as there is negativity coming from them. Pakistan has always been positive but India also has to take a positive step towards us,” Shahid Afridi was quoted as saying by Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq on Twitter.
“Relations with India should be better as cricket has always brought Pakistan & India closer. I agree with Shoaib Akhtar, we should have matches but it’ll be a big challenge to organise as we don’t know where they’d be held or if India wants to play,” he added.

India and Pakistan series is the most-watched among the publics of both the countries. The political rivalries bring more thrillers in the game.
Well, as the relations got degraded after 2012, the two arch-rivals stopped touring each other countries. Now, they only face each other during an ICC event, i.e., during the World Cups. India and Pakistan last faced each other in the ICC World Cup 2019 and next they will play against each other in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2020.
