Senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official and IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla is the latest person from cricketing fraternity to slam Shahid Afridi. The former Pakistan skipper caused an outrage among Indians with his tweet. He urged the United Nations (UN) to intervene in “Indian Occupied Kashmir” to stop the killing of “innocents”.
Shukla reacts to Monday’s anti-terror operation in Kashmir. In the encounter, 13 militants were neutralized.
“Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self-determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?”

And as expected, the maverick all-rounder has become public villain number one in India. He is facing the heat from all quarters and Shukla has not spared him either. Shukla called him ignorant over the Kashmir issue. The Congress politician also said the cricketer’s statement lacks significance.
“There is no significance of Shahid Afridi’s statement. He has no knowledge about it. I don’t think he is aware of the exact situation that is happening in Kashmir,” said, Shukla.
in addition, Shukla further said that rather than criticising India, Afridi should have condemned his own government for sending terrorists into Kashmir.
He also raised the issue of agitations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
“What is happening there, people are agitating there. They are deprived of food. They are living very miserable life. So, you should talk about your own country,” Shukla added.
Moreover, Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar also echoed views of Rajiv Shukla.
But Bhandarkar termed Afridi’s tweet as “absolutely ridiculous”. He also stated that everyone was well aware of proxy war going on in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, and Virat Kohli have also slammed the Pakistan star.
