West Indies selectors have included Shai Hope in the 3rd Test match at ST Lucia starting from 9th August. He will replace Chandrika who had a poor series so far as an opener. He scored 16,31 in the first Test match at Antigua while in the second Test match he scored 1 and 5.
Hope has played for West Indies in six Test matches. He has scored 171 runs at an average of 15.54. Due to his brilliant form, he has been rewarded with a place in the squad for the 3rd Test match. In the previous three matches at a four-day professional tournament held in West Indies, he has scored two centuries.
West Indies showed fight and grit to secure an unlikely draw in the second Test match at Jamaica. Apart from Hope, they have made no changes to their 14 man squad. India is leading the series 1-0 with two test matches to go.
West Indies have struggled with their opening partnership in the two Test matches so far. In the first Test match, the opening partnership put on 30 and 2. The second Test match was no different as opening partnership put on 4 and 5 runs respectively.
The West Indies opening partnership need put on good stand in the remaining two Test matches. If the opening stands could do the job, West Indies will give a tough fight in the remainder of the series.
Shai Hope made his Test debut against England at Bridgetown in 2015. His highest score in Test matches is 36. His last Test match was against Australia in 2016 at Sydney.
