Shakib Al Hasan Becomes Second Bangladesh Batsman To Score 9,000 Runs

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has become the second Bangladeshi cricketer to score 9,000 international runs across all three formats, after his teammate and opening batsman Tamim Iqbal, who has already amassed 9,752 runs.
The 29-year-old left-handed batsman Shakib, who is now sitting at the total international runs of 9,009, was 45 runs away from his landmark before scoring 59 off 78 balls against New Zealand on Day 1 of the second Test in Christchurch.
In the first Test, Shakib registered his first-double hundred in Tests by scoring 217 at Wellington to become the highest individual scorer for the Tigers in Tests after surpassing Tamim’s 206, which he set against Pakistan at Khulna in 2015.
Wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is on the third spot with 7,743 runs as an overall international run-getter for Bangladesh.
Once touted as the backbone of Bangladesh, the right-handed middle-order batsman Mohammad Ashraful is currently placed at fourth with the tally of 6,655.
The 44-year-old former Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar, who is also one of the members of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), is listed fifth with 5,194 runs.
Shakib has played 166 ODIs, 46 Tests and 57 T20Is for Bangladesh.
He has scored one double hundred, four hundreds and 19 fifties in Tests. Shakib has also notched six centuries in ODIs with 32 half-centuries.
Shakib has amassed 4,540 runs in ODIs, 3205 runs in Tests and 1,159 runs in T20Is.
The Jessore-born cricketer has also bagged 448 wickets across all three formats so far.
