In what comes as an astounding news, former Australian legendary cricketer Shane Warne, probably the most controversial player in the history of cricket has lightened up another controversy with his comments on Munaf Patel from nowhere. While commentating in the first ODI match between the hosts England and Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge he put an allegation upon the Indian pacer Munaf Patel that he faked his age during IPL. He said that Munaf was 35 years old at that time whereas on records he was 29 years old. Warne said that Munaf faked his age to fetch himself an IPL contract.
Munaf was the part of Rajasthan Royals team who stunned everyone by winning the first edition of Indian Premier League. Munaf was quite an instrumental part of the team as he scalped 14 wickets in 15 matches he played in the first edition. He was the fourth highest wicket-taker for his team. It was a dream debut for Rajasthan Royals as their players were toping the charts in aspects of the game. Sohail Tanvir was the highest wicket taker f the tournament with 22 scalps in just 11 matches.
Though Munaf Patel is yet to comment on this allegation from Shane Warne but surely Munaf will give him on his face as it is difficult to question the integrity and honesty of Munaf Patel. He was a proud and consistent fast bowler for Indian cricket team. He was also the part of the Indian team that cinched the world cup 2011. Well, it will be interesting to see that what Munaf has to say about the allegations from his former franchise captain.
