Australia’s premier bowler Pat Cummins has been rested, and thus, he has missed the third ODI match against India in Canberra. Soon after the completion of the three-month-long Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Pat Cummins went under 14-days quarantine. He has not got enough time to be out of the bubble and meet his family. Justin Langer, Australia’s head coach, had stated that they had rested Cummins to keep him mentally and physically fit throughout what is a challenging summer.

However, Australian spinner wizard Shane Warne is disappointed and has lashed out at Australia team management for resting Pat Cummins. He admitted that it is along the tour, but he didn’t think it was ideal for an Australian player to take a rest just after two matches.

“Pat Cummins and the resting, I’m a little bit disappointed,” Warne said on Fox Cricket.

“I know it is a big summer that we have and it is pretty jam-packed, but I don’t think Australian players should be resting after two games.

Is it because they played IPL? Shane Warne

Shane Warne stated that if the players are tired because of long IPL, they shouldn’t have played the league. He slammed Australia for sending players to play the league if they could not handle the workload.

Why are they resting? Is it because they played IPL? So they are allowed to go and play all these games in the IPL and then they need a rest because they have been playing in IPL,” Shane Warne said.

“Surely playing for Australia is more important than playing in the IPL. So I would say you should choose. Either miss the IPL or you cannot miss games because you need a break coming off an IPL for an Australian game,” he added.

“It is a One Day International for Australia and you need a rest to get through the summer after two games,” Shane Warne signed off.

Although they are playing the third ODI, Australia has already won the ODI series after comfortably winning back to back first two matches.
