The Story

Mumbai fast bowler Shardul Thakur likely to make his debut tomorrow in the 4th ODI at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. India is already up in the five-match series with an impregnable lead of 3-0.

If included, team India might see either Bhuvneshwar Kumar or Jasprit Bumrah get rested or either one of Yuzvendra Chahal or Axar Patel may have to make way for the fast bowler.

The talented one

Known for his aggression and nippy bowling speed, Shardul has played 49 first class matches till date and has 169 wickets in those game at an average of 28.71.

He is ranked as one of the most promising fast bowlers on the Indian domestic scene and leads the bowling attack Mumbai, the current Ranji Champions.

Thakur was a part of the India A side which played the tri-series in South Africa. He had an impressive time and finished as the second highest wicket taker with nine wickets including impressive figures of 4/35 and 3/52 in the last two games of the tour.

Before the tour with India A, Thakur kept the limelight on him with solid performances for the Rising Pune Supergiants this season in the IPL.

If he is given his ODI debut, Thakur will become the 218th player to represent India in ODI’s.

His debut will certainly make fans excited as he promises to be a great talent.

Experimental mood in the Indian camp

The Indian team is in an experimental mood at the moment with the opposition, hosts Sri Lanka, struggling to compete with visitor’s standards. The Lankans have been bogged down by a spate of injuries and lack of proper leadership which has resulted in India making a short work of the contests that have been played so far in both Tests and ODIs.
