The pacer Shardul Thakur is delighted with his contribution to the Indian team in the International platform. He is fortunate to get the opportunity in the Indian team.
In the second T20I match against Sri Lanka, he went wicketless in his first three over but was successful in picking three wickets in his last over dismissing the lower-order batsmen of visiting side in Pune.
Shardul Thakur feels that he has become a better bowler than earlier because he keeps working to remove his weakness. He further added that IPL and domestic cricket played a significant role in his improvement.
“Pretty much. I have been working hard for it and in an international game, when it pays off, it really makes me happy. So whenever you practice, you need to add to your strengths and keep bettering your skills,” Thakur said.
“Over a period of time, while practising I have been developing my skills and brushing it up. Playing last two-three years in the IPL, and domestic cricket, I have gotten better,” Thakur said in the post-match press conference.
Shardul Thakur’s comeback
Shardul Thakur made the debut in the India team in 2017 after he had an impressive IPL for Rising Pune Supergiant. Unfortunately, in 2018, he got injured and was dropped from the team.
Shardul Thakur was called back in the team after crucial pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar recurred with an old injury ahead of the three-match home ODI series against West Indies. It gave him the opportunity to impress the selectors with his performance.
He impressed everyone in the series-decider match of the ODI series against West Indies where he not only contributed with his bowling but also through his batting. In the third ODI match against the Windies, he left off the pressure from the shoulder of Ravindra Jadeja by striking a sixer and two fours and took the game to the finishing point as India went on winning that match.
