Sanju Samson Should Be Given The Chance Play In Front Of His Home Crowd: Shashi Tharoor
The wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson was welcomed with the crowd in the Thiruvanthapuram stadium before the second T20I match against West Indies. During the practice session, the whole crowd was chanting the name of the local boy who is still waiting for the opportunity to showcase his worth.
Sanju Samson, who has played one international match in his career, is looking forward to getting a second chance. He last played in the Indian team in 2015 against Zimbabwe in T20I after which he was suddenly dropped from the side.
The 25-year-old earned up the call in the senior team when Bangladesh toured India but was not selected in final XI. Well, he was removed again from the team ahead of West Indies series. But unfortunately, Shikhar Dhawan got injured, and the youngster was included in the T20I series. But Sanju still has to sit out in bench and is waiting for his opportunity.
Shashi Tharoor again opened up his frustration to not see Sanju Samson in the home ground
Shashi Tharoor showed objection that the player was not named in the Playing XI in his home ground, Thiruvanthapuram. The Politician has always been vocal about Samson’s selection.
“Most of us hoped the Indian team would have made the gesture of resting a player to allow @IamSanjuSamson to play in front of his home crowd. We would have inspired him to great feats of derring-do,” Tharoor tweeted.

The 22-year-old Rishabh Pant has been backed by the team even his low performances. In the T20I series against West Indies, he played maturely and stood for the team in Thiruvanthapuram as he remained not out. In the first T20I, he played short but effective innings as he scored 18 runs in 9 balls. He scored 33* runs in 22 balls in Thiruvananthapuram but missed a catch which costed the team. Pant’s continuous mistake can make way for Sanju Samson who is eager to see his name in playing XI.
