Shastri gives special attention to Dhawan in the nets at Eden

He has scored only 48 runs in last his five innings. Considering his last five innings, his average has gone down to only 9.6 runs. In the ongoing series against South Africa, in his last two T-Twenty matches, he has struck only 14 runs. Naturally, India’s coach Ravi Shastri seems a little bit of worried about the poor form of Shikhar Dhawan. And its reflection was noticed in the training of Indian team at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday. Even, after the completion of a grueling two-hour training session at the nets, Shastri called Dhawan separately and talked to him for around 20 minutes. It was also noticed, India’s coach took his opening batsman to the nets again and he was seen giving even some tips to the batsman. Later, at the time of departing Eden Gardens,

Shastri, speaking exclusively on the issue said, “Dhawan is not having any difficulty with technique. So I had nothing to do with his technique or style of play. Rather I only tried to talk about the mental part of the game saying, that how he should rebuild his mental composition and then only he would be able to regain his touch.” Shastri also added saying, “I am confident that Dhawan will be back in a lot of runs very soon.”

However, South African players expressed dissatisfaction as they were not allowed to see the pitch properly on Wednesday before their practice session at the Eden Gardens. Curator of the wicket at the Eden Gardens Prabir Mukherjee asked JP Duminy and Faf du Plessis to leave the wicket when they tried to step into the 22 yards and see the character of the pitch they will playing on Thursday.
