Shaun Marsh Signs To Represent Yorkshire In NatWest T20 Blast 1

Shaun Marsh was neither selected in the squad for the Test tour to Bangladesh nor was there in the Australia A squad in both the formats.

There was a fear of him lacking match practice during the off time but a contract with Yorkshire for the NatWest T20 Blast has come as a big relief for the left-handed batsman. He will replace his teammate Travis Head in the job, who will represent the Australia A against South Africa A. Marsh has been signed as an overseas player for the club.

“I’m very excited to be linking up with the club soon. I’m looking forward to meeting up with the boys and getting started. I’ve only heard positive things about the Club from previous overseas players and can’t wait to be involved. The NatWest T20 Blast is a strong competition and I’m looking forward to contributing to some wins. I’ll be looking to bring some experience to the group and obviously some runs would be nice too. I’ve played in a lot of T20 competitions now and hopefully, I can bring most of what I’ve learned over the years to the group and have a really successful campaign together,” Marsh told yorkshireccc.com.

This will be Marsh’s second stint with a club in the Natwest T20 Blast, as the Australian batsman has played for Glamorgan in the year 2012. Apart from that, he is one of the regular and prominent players in Indian Premier League (IPL) as well, who made a name for himself after he shone in the first season of IPL, where he emerged as the highest run-scorer by piling up 616 runs in 11 innings at an average of 68.44.

In his 17-years-old domestic career, Marsh has the highest appearance in T20 format if compared to all other formats of the game. In 152 T20s, left-handed batsmen with a strike rate of 128.93, has scored 5147 runs at an average of 39.59 with two centuries alongside his name. He recently represented Kings XI Punjab in the tenth edition of IPL.

However, his last appearance for his country in the shortest format came in January 2016 against India, a series where Men in Blue whitewashed Kangaroos by 3-0 after losing the ODI series by 4-1.
