Sachin Tendulkar Told Me He Couldn’t Take On The Short-Pitched Deliveries: Shaun Pollock 1

dThe legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was the most technically sound player, but he also had a shortcoming. Former South African cricketer Shaun Pollock has revealed that the former Indian batsman faced difficulty with playing the short-pitched deliveries, as revealed by Sachin himself to Shaun.

Shaun and Sachin have together played for IPL franchise Mumbai Indians. Moreover, they have also captained the franchise, and after their retirement, they are still connected with the franchise as mentors.

Former pacer said that to counter the short-delivers, Sachin would ramp the ball over the wicketkeeper and slip fielders

“He talked to me once about going to Australia and understanding he couldn’t take on the short-pitched deliveries anymore so he would ramp the ball over the wicketkeeper and slip,” Pollock was quoted as saying in a podcast, reported by the TOI.

Pollock expressed that his tactics against Sachin used to fail whenever they played in the sub-continent. He said that he waited for the Master Blaster to make a mistake.

“There were times, especially in the subcontinent, where you thought, ‘I’m not sure we can knock this guy over’. We were hoping he would make a mistake, rather than had a genuine plan,” the former speedster added.

Sachin and Pollock are the two great cricketers and have brought victories for the country. After seven years of retirement, Sachin still holds the record of most ODI centuries as well as he has a total of 100 tons in international cricket which is still unbreakable. He has as many as 18,426 runs in ODIs while in Test cricket, he has 15,921 runs. Pollock, on the other hand, picked up 391 ODI wickets and 421 Test scalps.
