Bowling for the 1st time in the series has turned for the worse for Dhawan and team India as the explosive batsman has been reported on account of bowling with a suspected action.

In the last test match of the Gandhi- Mandela series which took place at Kotla and the crowd saw India recording a thumping, Dhawan bowled a total of three overs giving away nine runs in a slow stand by the Proteas. And turning a victory sour for the home team was the match officials report that suspected Dhawan of bowling with an illegal action.

The superstar will have to take up tests for a period of 14 days but that will not hamper his international campaign and he can bowl at the international stage until the results of the tests are not announced. If Dhawan’s off spin is ultimately proved to be illegal then the batsman would be banned from bowling in international cricket.

Dhawan is a new addition to the list of players who have been reported for a suspected bowling action this year. Sunil Narine, Marlon Samuels, Mohammad Hafeez, Tharindu Kaushal were some of the other players who have been reported for an illegal action of which Narine and Hafeez have been subsequently banned from bowling.

The 30 year olds bowling action will be under scrutiny under ICC’s section relating to suspected bowling action in Tests, ODI’s and T20’s. But any decision wouldn’t affect Dhawan’s batting chances and thus wouldn’t impugn the batsman. In January India will be taking on the Aussies in their backyard and Shikhar Dhawan will play a major role in propelling the chances of this young team abroad.

Kohli might have shunned down the Proteas but there is still the fact that it was a home series, the real tests awaits the young captain down under where his mettle will be tested against the Aussie might. Will there be any ‘showing the finger’ business. We will have to wait for January!
