Team Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been piling runs across formats in the recent past and is only one among the five Indian cricketers in the A-plus contract list.

There is surely no doubt about the fact that Dhawan on his day can make any bowling attack look clueless. He will have a big role to play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), given the fact that their regular skipper David Warner will not be part of the tournament.

The southpaw Warner has been handed a one-year suspension by Cricket Australia after his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal during the third Test against South Africa at the Newlands in Cape Town. It is learnt Warner was the main antagonist. in the ball-tampering act.

Meanwhile, Dhawan has been practising ahead of the 11th season of the tournament.

However, there has been a tragedy in his life. Dhawan’s very own pet dog Terri passed away on Tuesday (April 3) and Dhawan couldn’t help but post a couple of pictures of his pet showering love for the beautiful creature.

“I will miss my sweetheart Terri a lot! She left us yesterday with loads of memories to cherish for the rest of my life! She spread happiness wherever she went. No one can ever replace her! Love you, Terri,” Dhawan captioned the pictures.

The southpaw has looked in good nick during the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy which India won in dramatic fashion beating Bangladesh.

However, Dhawan failed to contribute in the final. It was a Dinesh Karthik special of 29 of eight deliveries which helped India seal the deal. He smashed a last-ball six to dash the hopes of many Bangladeshis. The bowler Soumya Sarkar was in tears following the over.

Meanwhile, Dhawan must start preparing for a couple of gruelling test series coming up for India against England and Australia later in the year. He hasn’t performed well in overseas conditions and it’s time that he looks to turn his record around.
