Shikhar Dhawan Eclipses Virat Kohli To Earn More Tax free Portion Of BCCI’s Gross Revenue

Virat Kohli may the only Indian athlete on the Forbes list but this is not the case in terms of Tax-free portions given by BCCI to its players. As per a list issued by BCCI, where they have mentioned all payments above Rs.25 Lakh, it has been computed that Shikhar Dhawan was paid more amount than Virat Kohli.

Dhawan was paid an amount of Rs 87,73,651 whereas Kohli, who is second in the list was paid an amount of Rs 83,07,385. Ajinkya Rahane comes third in the list as the Test vice-captain was paid Rs 8106400. Though, Kohli is much ahead of Dhawan if talking of all other payments made by BCCI to other players. Dhawan was only paid this much amount because he missed major part home Test season due to an injury and till the time the time he got fit, he had already lost his place to KL Rahul, who grabbed it both the hands.

Apart from payments to players, BCCI also paid various amounts to Sanjay Manjrekar, Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri for their commentary stint during the India-Australia Test series. Other payments were made to various state associations.

Anjum Chopra, Neetu David, Diana Edulji – a member of COA, Shubhangi Kulkarni and Sudah Shah, each was paid an amount of Rs 30,00,000 as a one-time benefit to women cricketers. The amount was paid during the time of IPL. Many other former women cricketers were also paid various amounts, depending upon the number of appearances they made for the Indian cricket team.

There was a notable expenditure from BCCI which showed that the idea of COA to hold eight opening ceremonies cost the board around an amount of 15 Crores as per the given numbers.

Apart from this, a payment of around Rs 1.52 Crores was also made to Ashish Nehra, who was injured during IPL 2016 and underwent a knee injury in London. He made a comeback in the Indian team for the three-match T20I series against England earlier this year.
