Shikhar Dhawan Gives Update on his Mother's Health 1

In good news, India opener Shikhar Dhawan, on Monday (September 4), confirmed his mother is recovering well from her health problem that brought the batsman stay in Sri Lanka to a premature end.

Dhawan had left the Indian camp a day before the fifth One-Day International to attend his ailing mother in Delhi. Consequently, he was ruled out of the last ODI and will also not join the team for the one-off T20I on Wednesday (September 6). His absence, however, was not felt much in the fifth ODI, as Virat Kohli’s sublime century guided the Men in Blue to a crushing six-wicket win in Colombo.

Dhawan took to Twitter to inform every one of his mother’s health. Posting a selfie along with his mother, the left-handed batsman wrote:

“Mom is recovering… Her health is much better than before. Thank you every1 fr your support ????.”

Meanwhile, before leaving the series midway, Dhawan was in tremendous form with the bat. After making a return to the ODI team in the Champions Trophy, he hit the ground running and finished the tournament as its highest run-scorer.

He continued his red-hot form in the Test series against Sri Lanka too which was his comeback series. The southpaw, who made it to the Test squad after Murali Vijay was ruled out due to injury, fully capitalised on the chance as he was adjudged the Man of the Series.

He then began the ODI series with a blistering knock of 132 in the first match and missed his half-century narrowly in the second game before failing to score big in the following two games. Dhawan will be next seen in action later this month when India take on Australia in the five-match ODI series at home.
